The single best way to regulate your weight and stay healthy is to have a meal schedule. While this may seem nearly impossible in the busy world we all live in today, missing meals is simply not healthy, nor will it help you lose weight. The reason behind this is that if you have a schedule of when you eat, your body gets used to eating then and eventually you will start to become hungry around those times.
It's only recently that these junk foods known as snacks have come onto the market. Snacks usually consist of something high in salt, sugar, or fat, and they are quick to grab, requiring no effort on the consumer's part. Remember when your mother would say not to snack between meals? The reason for this is before snacks there was a pause, an intermission, per se, between meals where you would actually build up a need for food. Now that food is around all the time, the effort and need to prepare food is almost non-existent, contributing to weight gain due to both of these factors.
Snack food triggers various hormonal and chemical reactions in your body when you are constantly eating. This is what cows do – graze – which humans are not designed to do. Rather, humans are designed to eat a meal, rest, and then eat another later in the day.
Babies have smaller stomachs, but they still break between meals even if they have more than six meals a day. As they grow, their stomachs become bigger, helping them to last longer between meals like adults. A grown adult should know how much they should eat to sustain them to the next meal.
In this sense, there is absolutely no need to snack. If we snack, we train ourselves to look for and eat food whenever we are hungry, making anytime and every time good to eat. This can cause us to fool ourselves into thinking we are hungry, thus making us eat more and gaining unnecessary weight. This causes your body to start eating whenever there is food present instead of at scheduled times when you are actually hungry.
To lose and maintain a healthy weight, setting exact scheduled times to eat will go a long, long way to keeping a healthy lifestyle. It's not a hard thing to start doing and can help you learn moderation as well so you can start eating what you want without worrying about gaining unnecessary weight.
Another sample I had to make for an oDesk job. I can post it here b/c it won't be used for anything.'
